Covid 19 Recovery
We will help you to deliver a recovery plan to manage the expected impact in your area.
The economic downturn due to Covid-19 is expected to result in a rise in overall homelessness.
This is unlikely to be short term. All the main causes of homelessness are likely to see a spike with huge implications for temporary accommodation.

The key impacts are likely to be:
• With 1 in 5 renters predicted to lose their jobs, evictions are likely to increase significantly
• Presentations as a result of parental/family evictions are likely to spike as
restrictions on movement are eased
• Victims of domestic abuse may not have come forward during lockdown
but many will seek help once there is an end to lockdown
• There is the impact of the change in the legislation, through the Domestic Abuse Bill, which means all victims of domestic abuse will have a priority need for accommodation with no test for vulnerability

The number of people who come forward for assistance due to domestic abuse could increase as lockdown restrictions are lifted. The recovery plan will include embedding positive learning during the Covid-19 crisis, finding new approaches to service delivery and refreshing your prevention casework, so it is specifically designed for tackling the main causes of homelessness as a result of Covid-19.
